Hi all. I have been a Enrolled Nurse since 1994 but haven't done any Clinical nursing since the end of 2002. (have been employed in other positions as a nurse in this time) I have been thinking of doing a "refresher" but from reading some ealier topics it seems that as an Enrolled Nurse even if you do the refresher, your still really "not wanted" if you don't have the medication endorsement. I was unaware that you couldn't do the medication endorsement without doing the full Endorsed Enrolled Nurse training now. Seems to me it's not woth doing the refresher at all.

I mostly did rural nursing for 13 years and now work as a phlebotomist and cord blood collector. I work in one of the major hospitals in Brisbane and am "shocked and appalled" at the way we (phlebotomists) are treated so badly by nursing staff. It makes me ashamed to actually say that i am a nurse. I have found this in another Brisbane hospital as well. I understand that "yes" nurses are busy but so is everyone else, and my opinion is that we have to work together as a team. Has anyone else found this disturbing?

Any info on whether the medication endorsement will be reintroduced would be appreciated.

Hi Kazbat, To answer your question about the medication endorsement the answer is no it wont be re introduced. I am currently doing the re-entry for my EN. I did my training in South Australia and we automaticaly had medication endorsement. Now in Queensland you need to upgrade to the Diploma of nursing to get a look in for jobs. Many jobs are now only for EENs or RNs. I have contacted the nurses council and the CAS program about all this. Please contact me if you want any other info on it

Hi Kazbaz... I have just joined this website because i am moving to Brisbane next month and I am testing the waters for div2. I agree with you about the way div 2 are treated. I completed my cert 4 in 2002 and at the moment i am thinking seriously changing direction. I have come to the conclusions that unless we have a uni degree we have no initiatives no worth. Unfortunately I cannot attend uni four days a week which has been the reason I have not completed my batchelor of nursing. But after reading all the posting I am almost very sure that I will be starting next year via correspondence because I have a mission to complete. Cheers

So can I safely conclude that there are no refresher courses for EN's in the whole of Australia ?
