I've been seriously thinking of studying nursing next year. The only thing holding me back is my very short stature. Would my height be too much of a hindrance to be an effective nurse? Any suggestions or real life experiences related to topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank you so very much for your discussion forum post.  You are very brave in discussing your height and your thoughts about it.  I am a nurse and I am 4 foot 10 1/2 or 4 foot 11 inches tall.  My nursing was geriatric and school nursing.  I worked in adult day care center where the clients were able to walk mostly, but some of them could not and I had to have help which is totally fine because nursing is a team effort and it is OK if you have two people helping to lift someone.  I think that you would be a excellent nurse.  Nursing is in your heart and you should do things that are in your heart and you can always get help from your co-workers if needed.  Go to nursing school and please become a nurse.  Good Luck to you!

Hi there,I think your height is not the main point in choosing the career.

You know, I would highly recommend you to try and go to study to some nurse school if it is what you really want.

I wish you good luck with it! Don't worry, I'm more than sure that you'll deal with everything.
