I am hopelessly clueless when it comes to maths/science. Some might say why get into nursing then? For me its something i'm so interested in, but never pursued it because i thought i wouldn't be smart enough to get past the entry test into the diploma even! Am i stupid to be even thinking about going ahead with enrolling? I have a terrible memory and no matter how much i study i really don't think i can do enough even just to sit the test. I feel like a total failure sometimes smart wise. And when i hear about some people who have a great score on their test but still did not get in, it makes me wonder on if i should even bother. Anyone else feel similar or have reserves about pursuing this field? Or anyone here who got into nursing who didnt think they could ever do so? Thanks :)

Hi Mrs Hopeful,

I didn't finish high school, however I have done a lot of biomed and finance uni subjects, with a 7.0 GPA. I got accepted into uni this semester, so if I can do it, after not finishing high school, anyone can!
I would recommend you look at uni's that offer bridging courses (give them a call and ask if they do them). Most uni's now have it where upon completion, you are guaranteed entry into a degree of your choice with them. CQU offer that and nursing via distance if you aren't near a campus of theirs (think they call the program STEPS). USQ also offer bridging by distance, and it's so wonderfully easy. But unless you are close to their campuses that offer nursing, you have to apply with everyone else for closer uni's once you complete it, instead of getting auto access.

Best of luck!

I have just sent off an application form today for the steps program with cqu. I am really nervous about even the bridging program. Thanks for your reply :)

Hi Mrs hopeful, did you end up passing the entry test? I feel like I could have written this post, I'm so scared of the test as I'm in my 40's so its been a long time since I studied :(
