I only just found out there is no mental health only nurses anymore in Australia. Would anyone know how easy it will be for me to get a job in mental health in Melbourne and what sort of wage I could expect? Any suggestions of where to look for jobs would be welcome. I am a qualified psychiatric nurse. I have a post graduate advanced diploma in mental health nursing and a Masters in Medical Science. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

There are quite a few UK mental health nurses being recruited in Australia... well in Melbourne anyway. I can't see you having any problems getting a job in any of the major hospitals. You could try Southern Health, Melbourne Health and Western Health.

i am guessing your wage would probably be around $23-25 per hour as an RPN.

Good luck.

hi, you shouldnt have any probs getting work in Melbourne. to start off with you could join an agency and try out a few different facilities? try contacting PCC nurses agency, located in east melbourne. theyre a psych nursing agency and always looking for pysch RNs.

good luck!
