Hi,

Just after some advice on neonatal nursing. I'm studying to become an en but would love to eventually work in neonatal or paediatrics. After finishing my diploma what is the best way to go...do I need to be an rn or can I study a midwifery course whilst being an en?? I've heard this is a difficult area to specialise in because of popularity so I feel preparing my next steps is important.

Thanks for your help :-)

Thanks for any advice you can give

Hi,

I'm wanting to get into neonatal nursing as well & I'm also studying towards my EN diploma. From the info I've gathered once I've completed my diploma I'm going to apply for graduate EN programs at hospitals that offer specialisation in neonatal/paedatric care or women's health, have a look at the graduate programs in your area & the specialisations that they offer. Once I've completed the program I'm going to keep applying for positions that are offered in hospitals that specialise in neonatal/paedatric care or maternity hospitals, I have seen positions advised for neonatal EN nurses here in Perth so it is possible to work in this field as an EN nurse, also once your working as an EN nurse try to do as many on the job qualifications within the neonatal field to help better your job prospects within a neonatal ward.

All the best! :)
