Hi everyone,

I am an enrolled nursing student and this will be the third time I will be repeating the unit as I just cannot get my head around the lab practical assessment. :( I had to speak to my head of school regarding to not be kicked out of the entire course because of not passing the second time!! I've come so far I am almost finished, only a few units to go then acute placement. I really need help with this unit.. This is my last chance.. I don't know who to speak to, I'd like someone to meet me in person to help me (if any nurse lives in melbourne) and are willing to help me out and teach me.. I'm really counting on someone.. Yes I know I should get help from an educator at school but I am not enrolled yet into the unit so I'd like someone to help me before I start again with the aseptic technique.. Really need to finish this year and obtain my registration!! I've been studying for over 18 months. :(

What kind of help do you need?
The few main principles of aseptic technique are:
1) Hand hygiene before anything else.
2) Prepare things you need for the wound dressing while maintaining sterility of the equipments.
3) Ensure you do not contaminate anything during dressing of wounds. Eg. Dirty forcep must not touch the sterile items, no cross over of hands during procedure.
