Nurse retention rates a worry, says federation

The Australian Nursing Federation in Tasmania has warned the state is losing more nurses.
In September the federation presented the Health Minister David Llewellyn with 18 recommendations to improve retention and recruitment of nursing staff at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Federation secretary Nerolli Ellis says none has been implemented.
She says there have been positive discussions with the hospital's new chief executive Peter Leslie and there will be another meeting on December 5.
Ms Ellis says the retention of graduates is still a major worry.
"We currently have around 15 new graduates who are not receiving positions in the state system at the moment and that's just deplorable that we've got graduating Tasmanian nurses who can't stay in Tasmania," she said.
