Hello,

I am very interested in starting a career in nursing, however I would like to know more information about shift work. I have a young family and wondering how I can work around them. Do all nursing positions require shift work? If not what positions are available with permanent shifts or day time shifts?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I think it depends where you are working. Most hospitals, nursing homes require some shift work and weekend work there are places that have permanent night staff , if you were to work in a doctors surgery or day surgery then there woudn't be shifts.A friend works in a skin check clinic and she just does 2 days a week, set days , set times. Some places will work with you and others will not.
