Midwife2be (offline) Joined: Aug 2013 Location: Posts: 1	Wed Aug 21, 2013 3:08 pm Hi Guys I am considering the Diploma of Nursing either online through Gild Coast Tafe or Greenslopes Hospital, what I would like to find out if one of these has more advantages than the other or not? also is there any opportunity to gain paid work at some stage whilst completing this course, I am a mature student who has no experience in theirs field as I have been working as a nanny for over 20 yrs, and my ideal job would be a midwife but I thought I would take baby steps and start with an Een. thankyou for any advice you can give me

melzrio (offline) Joined: Aug 2013 Location: Posts: 2	Aug 22, 2013, 06:02 pm Hi there, not sure about QLD but in VIC you can work as a Personal Care Assitant in aged care, or do home care for elderly and disabled adults/children in their homes through a care agency. Aged care may not be an ideal career but it definatly gives you a lot of valuble skills that will make your nursing studies and clinical placements much easier Hope this has helped :)
