Hi all

I have applied to start studies in semester 2 at Murdoch.  Could anybody give me some indication of the timetable and the days of the week the course runs.  I have to arrange childcare.  Any other information would be most helpful.

Cheers

Jellybeans

I am just at the end of Stage 2 (2nd semester) of EN studies at Challenger Murdoch.  I can tell you that in first semester I had three days per week in class - Tues, Thu and Fri - basically 9am-3pm-ish.

However, days and times vary each semester.  Stage 2 and 3 are 2 days per week in the classroom - sometimes longer days to 4.30pm.

But don't forget about your pracs - which are 3 or 4 weeks fulltime - Mon - Fri either morning shift (ie 7am-3pm) or afternoon shift (ie 3pm-11pm).  Only one prac in semester 1 - which is towards the end ie November.

In Stage 2 and 3 there are a 3 week + a 4 week prac also.  So in the 18 months 17 weeks full time prac.  Term breaks tend to fit in nicely with normal school holidays.

The tricky part is that you don't find out about the days/hours until later on (I think when you get your acceptance / enrolment) - so it doesn't give you alot of time to get organised.  Also, they can (and do) change things on you - ie make the days longer for example.  So, from my experience you can't really rely on the info you are given up front.

Hope that helps.  I too juggled (and am still juggling) two kids, work and full time study.  You have to be very organised - especially in Stage 2 and 3 - as the study work load is intense.

But, if this is what you want to do you will work around it.

Good luck.

Cheers

Bec

Hi Bec, and thanks so much for that info.  At least I have some idea of what to expect.  Good luck with the rest of your studies!
