I am an EN in south australia and am wondering if someone can tell me if an EN can administer vaccines/immunisations in SA, do they need accreditaion, and where you can do the training for this?
Thanks,

I'm not 100% sure, but I would assume that if you're medication endorsed (EEN) you would be able to give vaccinations?
I hope someone might be able to tell us for sure, as I'm curious about this too :-]

Med endorse ENs are allowed to administer IntraMuscular and Sub-Cutaneous injections. Only thing they are not allowed are "pushes"- i.e. medicating via some form of catheter...Example - Central Venous Catheters, PICCs and etc. The also means they are not allowed to adjust drips/infusion pumps and inject into Port'O Caths.

As most vaccinations are just IMIs or Sub-Qs, med endorsed ENs should be ok to go ahead.

Yeah, as long as you are medication endorsed and only going by sub cut or im you should be able to. I'm a EEN and i did one of my clinicals at a superclinic where we administered vaccinations.

I am an EEN in the public hospital system working in the infection control/staff health clinic. The hospital wants me to do an immunsation course but we cannot find one that accepts EEN's, they all seem to be only for RN's. Does anyone know where we can find one that will allow EEN's to complete.
