Just wondering if anyone can help with best options for studying diploma of nursing part time around Hills district in Sydney. Am currently doing cert 3 in aged care but thinking I wan't to increase my options by going onto diploma. Am mature aged and still have teenagers to work around and trying to work part time. Also would love to hear from any one with info on the reality of being 50 and actually getting work after finishing the qualification.

hi karen, i am with teenagers too and nearly 47 , im thinking about doing e n not aged care as much, cause i don't think you need to if you go straight to en, i have looked at courses online and in campus with tafe on the gold coast, you can get the government to pay half its three days at tafe and study study is my hick up im scared of that, and i have a part time job as well as a casual and i also volunteer in  high school and paid work so im so unsure about giving up my job i love but wanting a career when the kids leave the nest and some fulfillment in life something to hang my hat on to be proud of , i have too much spare time and have become very lonely and bored , i have a friend who has  done aged care and en and bachelor of nursing, with three young kids at the time, who is  supporting me saying shell help me with my study i have  a supportive husband and the kids don't really give a dam they think its another hobby thing im on about , but i did see that with this company blue stone the aged care was cheaper with government funding but nursing is $$$$ its about $10k out of your pocket . have you done anything yet and gone on?

Have not done anything yet, its all sort of gone in the too hard basket at the moment. I want to do it on line over around two years but the gold coast is the only option for this as far as I can tell and having to go there for residentials isn't really an option for me ( in the foreseeable future anyway ). Please let me know the deets of anything else you find, in the meantime I am going to finish my aged care and worry about the next step later.
