Hi there Linda I took mine last week & got my results today 34/40 literacy & 28/40 numeracy. You should be fine with literacy if English is your first language. Numeracy was a bit challenging occupy have been out of school for a while. Just do some study on basic fractions, percentage, decimals etc. I've got some really good study material I can email you for the math side of things.

They also have a writting part of the test where you choose a topic and write a letter/essay type of thing! Just proof read!

Don't spend too much time on questions you don't understand because time flys! ( you only get 30 mins ) Especially math I had to guess the last 5 questions because I ran out of time.

And lastly don't stress too much, I was nervous as and it wasn't even that bad !

I have my interview Friday so wish me luck!

Hope this is helpful

Yes I agree, with the veteassess test its really important to make sure you are proof reading! One thing that they dont tell you in the exam is you do one section at a time and then thats it for that section, so we did maths first then literacy, and once the maths is over, you cant go back to the answers sheet and fill in extra answers or anything. So the big thing with the maths is how quick time goes! make sure you are getting as many answers circled as possible.

With the literacy, it really isnt that difficult if it is your first language, but even then, it's not that bad! With the essay writing part, i sat and jotted down the points i would write about each topic before exam day that i found on the net from other people who had sat it. they pretty much use the same ones.... "how would you help a family who has moved to the community and dont speak english well", "write a letter to a friend to convice them to stop smoking", "if you were bedridden, what would you want from someone caring for you".... they're the ones i can remember.... one of my interviewers said apparently there was a new one asking about what hope means to you, or something like that, which sounds really hard!

I sat the vetassess twice, and got 22/40 numeracy and 38/40 lieracy. So resat the numeracy component and got 28/40 numeracy, and that got me in!

so good luck, and really study the maths because alot of it isnt only if you know what you're doing, but how quick you can do it. If you are anything like me, i had to get my speed up because it had just been too long since doing maths at school

Goodluck!!

i sat my vetassess test 2nd march.
i was advised to go through a year 9 maths text focussing on percentages/rations/fractions.
i haven't physically received my results but was told that i score 34/40 literacy and 32/40 numeracy (not bad considering i didn't do 6 of the questions coz i ran out of time)
unfortunately i was successful at gaining an interview BUT as i had family court on the same day the coordinator wouldn't budge in changing the day and time.
instead telling me to reapply again next year!!! grrrr!!!
now i will have to resit a test that i have already passed and do either health sciences or aged care....i am opting for aged care as i will be able to get work sooner!!

@blmfld
I'm pretty sure your vetassess results are valid for like 6 months so just apply somewhere else for mid year intake.
If you're from VIC try Health skills thats where i got accepted .
