If this is something you have always wanted to do, go for it. I am just starting my diploma of nursing and didn't finish high school. I expect to find it hard but know that the teachers will help me if I require extra help especially with the calculation side of it. Good luck

Hehe, You sound like me
I was possible the worst student not because i was dumb but because i was too preoccupied with "partying" and i cut school all the time.
Im currently studying div2/enrolled nursing and its not "hard" but you definatly need to be comitted even if it means giving up partying / going out every weekend to study.
Ive always wanted to be a nurse so I am comitted :)

"Student nurses - we give up our lifes to learn to save yours "
( I love this quote but its seriously not that bad )

As long as your dedicated to learn you will be fine :)

Well i'm currently studying atm nearly through the first semester the hardest thing to get my head around is the anatomy and physiology. At times you will be meantaly drained but if you foccose and apply yourself you'll get through it the leactures are there to help you and want every student to pass just remember that.

best of luck with it all

I did my ENs when it was a cert IV so it might be a little different. The hardest thing I found was learning the anatomy. You learn a lot at tafe in a short period of time so I found I had to study a bit each day at home to stay on top of things.

You'll find you're biggest learning curve will be when you start your block placements because you find out how little you really do know, but this is the best part of the course by far. Good luck with it. No harm in trying it. If it's what you want to do, you'll apply yourself.

It depends on how dedicated you are to the course. If you really want to do it, then you will put in the hard yards. Nothing worth anything is easy. There are exams, and assignments and practicals, but if you have a genuine interest in the material, then the hard part is already done.

Also there is "bridging" programs which ive only heard good things about and help in regards to moving into high education study. But if you are dedicated and really want it then I am sure you will achieve it. But sometimes I honestly thing a love for healthy and hospitals is good but not always enough, because of the fact there are units that can be boring, but if you can get through these then you will be right. I just say this because I know people who have just wanted to do the "health" units and hated the other ones which meant they left the course

Hi,

I am currently looking to study enrolled nursing in Perth, I am a mature aged student with two young children and I am finding it so hard to get information on the courses available in the area. Anyone else currently studing at TAFE in the Perth area? If so please could you give me some info on what days you have to attend the college and when and how long the placements are for each semester?

Thanks

Sharon
