No there's not much difference at all and that's why I decided to go for it. I figured even if I don't end up liking it, at worst I'll end up qualified to work in Mental Health which isn't even a bad thing. Also I figured having some experience dealing with mentally ill patients would come in handy working in other departments too (lots of MH patients are admitted via Emergency)
I attend full time. Last semester I had four units: Bio (6 hours), Inquiry into Health care (3 hours), Beginning Professional Practice (5 hours) and then The Person, Health and Wellbeing (3 hours) so all up I was on campus for 17 hours, but then extra for homework and getting your required reading done.
This semester I have four units again but I do one whole day at the hospital in a clinical school there. ACU has an agreement with Werribee Mercy Hospital so any students of ACU who live near Werribee complete two of their units at the hospital in a classroom area and also go onto the wards to practice their skills. Because of that I only have one day at uni for Biology and UNCC100, which is a core subject unrelated to nursing and that one only goes for an hour.
All of the lectures are recorded and available online so I don't bother going in for them. So I guess technically I have 1.5 days of uni (and only 4 hours of that is spent at the ACU campus).
100% go for it, I am loving it so much! If you have any other questions let me know, happy to answer them for you.
