I know a couple of nurse's that carry their PDA as a backup for when the nurses station is too busy or unable to access the ward computer due to someone else using it. Personally, I think this is a valuable tool that I can see many nurses using in the future.

A good start would be to have a medical dictionary and maybe a disease/diagnosis type software. I know of one nurse that has MIMS on hers but it costs around $150/year for the subscription.

Goggle: "Nursing PDA" and use the Australian search feature, this should give you a rough idea of what is out there and how much it costs. My guess is that the software would be around a similar price to the available text book.

From having a bit of a look myself, I can see that some of the software is directly downloadable so no need for a shop.

Cheers

Janine what did you settle on? I had a Palm Z72 with Mims but it's recently died. Looking at other options now, Ipaq etc ... What's about and what do you use on it?

cheers, Matthew

Ive only seen one nurse having one. handy for checking up drugs so you dont have to find a mims but still. We dont use computers yet to write down notes etc..all old fashioned.
