As part of an assessment to complete my degree i have to complete an assessment based on a scenario of a grad nurse and the roles and responsibilities she would have. I was wondering if anyone would have any points on how i could proceed. The scenario is as follows...
At about 9am Mr. Robinson (aged 46 years) is brought to a metropolitan Emergency Department with a history of 30 minutes of chest pain that subsided during the journey to the hospital. A graduate nurse working with an experienced enrolled nurse is allocated to Mr Robinson’s care. On admission Mr Robinson is asking for his wife to be called and says that his father died at an early age from a ‘heart attack’. When questioning Mr. Robinson, the graduate realises that this patient is her neighbour from across the street, who she met during a recent neighbourhood barbecue.
Using Standards of Nursing Practice guidelines, such as the ANMC National Competency Standards & the QNC Scope of Practice Framework to direct thinking, discuss the roles and responsibilities (not the tasks or the skills) of the graduate registered nurse:
1. To develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with Mr Robinson; and
2. To appropriately delegate care.
Any help would be greatly apreciated...
Sincerely Ash
