Hi guys

Am new to this site, and I haven't seen a topic where my question has been answered, but if I'm repeating something, please just direct me :-)

My question is this:

I am aiming to graduate at the end of the year, and completing my last three subjects in semester 2. I am super keen to get into a grad program for 2015, but I will be completing all my 3rd year placements after July, and most grad program applications seem to close around then. This means, I won't have my placement reports (other then first and second year) to supply with my application.

Has anyone been in this situation before? I am wondering if only being able to give 1st and 2nd year reports will not hinder my chances too much in getting into a grad program. I have a GPA just under a 6, which I'm hoping will help.

Can anyone give me some advice?

Thanks! :-)

SAHealth are very understanding of this...

I was friends with an enrolled nurse skilling  up  to registered nurse, and she hadn't been on any placements at the time applications closed, and she got a grad position.

SAHealth should come to your Uni a couple of times and do presentations - make the time to go to these, as they give excellent information about how to present you clinical placements, references and navigate through their complex application.

My suggestion is to start thinking about your references RIGHT NOW!

contact them, make sure they remember you, if you apply interstate you may written references on a proforma, do not leave any of this to the last minute

Also for SAHealth, make sure that your references will be available to recommend you (eg. Not overseas, on leave etc). I found out last minute my best reference was going to unavailable and I had to scramble...

Good luck

Hi Joeyanna

Thank you so much for your reassuring reply! I feel so relieved to know this!

I don't attend a uni in SA (studying external through CDU), so I won't be able to see the information sessions there, but I'm sure they do a public one, as that's on their website for last year.

Thank you so much for the advice - I'm still in contact with a number of nurses I've done placement with, and they've all confirmed they'll be refs. I'll check again in 6 months time too :)

Cheers

Emma

Hi everyone
Im new to this page, im currently studying bachelor of nursing st sydney univerity and i will be graduating in december 2014. Im gonna apply for new graduate program in south Australia but since im an interstate student my chance of getting into program is not so high.
I understand that SA has a GPA system which NSW doesn't , I calculated my GPA and I got just under 5 , in a scale of 1 -7 , im not sure if there are different scales for calculation of GPA, I just followed Flinders university scale system.
Ive got one report from my recent (3rd year) clinical performance and one from second year both from clinical facilitator and also I have been working as an AIN .
Has anyone applied form other states for TPPP ? how many students are applying for 2015 in SA and what are my chances of getting into the program.
I appreciate any feedback or comments also im considering rural

thanks
