Hi everyone!
Thank you for contributing and posting all of your valuable insights about the good and bad life of a Nurse on NurseCentral. I've just reposted this topic here, because I had initially posted it in the wrong place. It's okay to skip my "life story" to the end where hopefully you can answer some of my questions - thank you!!
I am completing my Biomedical Bachelor's degree at Unimelb in 2015 this year. I live with my single mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and I've had to look after her after her radiotherapy treatment. This, in addition to working part-time, has negatively impacted my studies (67.5% WAM average :( )
My dream is to work in a healthcare setting where I can provide direct care to patients, similar to the care that my mother received from her nurses. I want to be accepted into a Master of Nursing but the entry requirements are ambiguous.
University of Melb Master of Nursing Science FAQ Page:
"This varies from year to year and is entirely dependent on the standard of the applicants for that year. As such, we do not publish a GPA requirement."
Long story short:
1. Does anyone know how competitive entry into the Master of Nursing Sciences at University of Melbourne is?
2. Is there minimum successful GPA/or weighted average mark (WAM) to be guaranteed an offer?
3. Is there any other additional advice or anything else you can offer?
Thank you all so so much in advance for any comments you may have and for contributing to the store of information on this forum.
:-)
