Hello,

Im a second yr student of a Bn Nursing, two year fast track course in Sydney. I am looking at applying for new grad programs in Perth, but am not sure whats available or whether its hard or easy to get into. My concern is that most hospitals will look at an interstate applicant as a liability in that they have not been trained with legislation of WA in mind and that they're making a move from one side of the country to another, so may not want to waste their time on someone who could potentially pick up and leave after the program is over. Also, If they can get a nursing student from WA with the same marks, why would they take someone from Sydney?

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice or useful information to help me please? I am really hoping to get into a program over there and would be highly disappointed if I couldnt.

Any assistance anyone could provide me would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there

I'm a final year student this year and will be applying for my grad program in August. I am a little concerned myself! I know that the grad programs are getting harder and harder to get. Many of my friends who finish at the end of this semester didn't get offered positions until the very final round of offers and there are some that have missed out. As it is none of the international students at my uni even got looked at last year.

I'm not saying you wouldn't get a position but I would assume with the current situation it would be harder.

Good luck!
