HI,

I am in a bit of a delima, I have been offered a TPPP in a country hospital in SA both acute/aged care.  I am a Registered nurse and have been working in aged care for 5 months part time, so I was still able to apply for a spot.  Since being registered as I said I am working in aged care, plus my local hospital (country hospital) have just taken me on casually as a RN.  They are willing to help me and support me as they know I am a new RN (I have also been a EN for 6 years).  Both my new jobs are about 30 mins away.

I then get an offer for a TPPP for next year 2013, it was my 3rd preference in a country hospital.  I am now not sure if to take the offer as I know how important a TPPP is but the downfall is that its about 100kms from where is live both ways.

Just after some thoughts, I know how lucky I am to have an offer and dont want to make the wrong decision

I would be inclined to stay where you are. If the hospital your at now is willing to hold your hand whilst you are still learning thats a bonus. Yes grad positions are extremely rare and I was in desperate need of one 12 months ago, but I have come to realise if you are a good nurse things will be offered. I have been in aged care but I have had so many offers to do other things as word gets around as how reliable you are and that your willing to learn. Grad postions are overated and it is not the end of the world if you don't take it or don't get one. Trust me.
