Hello everyone. New member and first time poster. I am enrolling in the Diploma of Nursing Online through GCIT and just wondering who else may have also, It would be good to get to know a few people before the first residential school. I am in Wollongong, so looking forward to being able to go back to my home state :) I have always wanted to be a nurse ever since I was 15 (now 24), falling pregnant young and the curve balls that life throw you have made it hard but now is the time for me to start (even though I am pregnant and due in September) but I have an amazing fiance and family network. Looking forward to hearing back :) Rebecca

Hi Rebecca and Jen,
I am studying the Diploma of Nursing this March through GCIT part time. I live on the Gold Coast, so I don't have to travel for the Resedentials. I have also wanted to be a nurse since I was 15 (now nearly 41) and have had those curveballs Rebecca! My youngest son just started Prep a couple of weeks ago, so I felt the time was right! Starting to get excited as there is only a couple of weeks to go now! Looking forward to hearing back from anyone else about to take this journey with us. Kyles

Hi Rebecca, Jen and Kyles I have just enrolled in the full time course, in the John Flynn cohort. So I obviously live on the Gold Coast. I used to be a flight attendant so this will be different, but also some similarities - late nights, customers of different temperaments and cultural background. I have 3 delightful boys aged 5, 3 1/2 and 10months. I was going to start this last year but had a surprise pregnancy. Anyway I can't wait to dive in. Mands

I am enrolled to start part time in March. I am in Melbourne, so will have a bit of a hike for the residentials. I currently work in a busy public hospital down here dealing with the less desirable side of public health. My current curve ball is that I have to undergo surgery a week before the course starts. I suppose I will now have plenty of time to study :-) Paul

Hi everyone,
Rebecca and Jen have you enrolled yet? Hope you both got in!
Hi Mands, congratulations on your choice of becoming a nurse. Are you going to be studying part or full time at John Flynn? Do you have to get your books or are they supplying them? and Paul. All the best for your surgery, and what exactly is the " less desirable side of public health"? Kyles

Hi Kyles, The "less desirable side of public health" is part of my job of dealing with the drug, alcohol and behaviourally affected individuals who think it is their right to abuse, spit at, punch, kick and bite the very people who are actually trying to help them. (sorry, but it hasnt been a good afternoon here today - I was headbutted but one of these litlle darlings earlier......) And my surgery is to repair an injury incurred in the course of my work. Paul

@blackbird...Interesting place, where you're working. Hope that you weren't injured by that incident. Well, I think it all adds to the excitement, working in or chosen profession..:) Good luck and have fun with your studies, everyone. Don't forget to take some time off to be with your families.
