Hi there, can anyone tell me if the applied directly to Bachelor of Nursing UQ Ipswich via alternative entry? If so, can you tell me how you went and any information/advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. J10

Do UQ allow direct applications? There was nothing on their website when I looked at the start of the year. QTAC recommend doing the STAT and a PCA for alternative entry, although you still have to apply through QTAC. Alternatively, you can look at bridging courses. These are a semester and give you a rank to use to get into your degree of choice.

I'd go for the STAT test. I'm a (very) mature student and had been out of education for 15 years. I did a STAT test and got in without the need of a bridging course. It's worth a try, you can always do the bridging course if you need to.

Hi J10

I'm doing a bridging course a the moment to get into uni and it is turning out really good.
Both the STAT and a bridging course are good pathways, it really depends on the type of person you are and what you feel comfortable with.

Personally, I'm doing bridging course this semester and have found it fantastic. I've been out of school for almost 10 years, and some of the course has been revision and other things completely new to me. I couldn't imagine starting B Nursing without it, never having been to Uni or studied externally before it has been a real eye opener for me, but as Nurse4God said, it depends on what your more comfortable with. If you feel you don't need the refresher then go for the STAT.

All the best :)
