I'm about to start the WIST program through CQU in order to do my bachelor of nursing externally next year. I'm a bit worried about studying something I have no knowledge of without the face to face contact. Is anyone else studying this externally and if so, how are you finding it?
Also, if anyone can offer me any insight into WIST or CQU in particular it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cynn,

I did the LIFT course with CQU which I think is similar to WIST. The was really well run. All the study material is sent to you and the tests were all online and open book. I'm really glad I did it as it gives you a taste of what it's like to study with your current work load.

I'm currently in first year at CQU studying nursing. I'm studying part time and working full time. I'm only doing 2 subjects a term. I would not be able to manage any more than that with my current work load.

If you have any more questions I'll try and answer them. Good luck with the course, you won't regret it.

Thanks so much for the reply Dave. Just a question with regards to your admission, were you able to get into nursing on the basis of your LIFT course alone or did you do extra?
I'm really nervous that doing the WIST won't be enough for me as I'm assuming there's only so many places offered per year.

I ended up applying through QTAC just in case I failed the LIFT course (which I didn't). However, I could have applied after completing the LIFT course.
I don't think you have anything to be nervous about. I'm not sure if they have a cap on nursing places. Maybe you should give them a call as they are really helpful.
They have on open day next month in a number of the campuses. I went last year and it was really helpful.

Good liuck with it and let me know if I can help.

Dave
