Travelling is going to be a huge issue so I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of travelling is involved with these and which involves less of it?

Hi, I'm starting first year external nursing through CDU this year, and last year I did the tertiary preparation course with CQU. I chose CDU because I believe that overall it will be less travel for me (I'm in Vic) and easier on my family. So far my experience with both uni's has been good. There are heaps of facebook pages for both of these uni's, if you would like to hop on there and ask questions of the current students. I think you will probably get feedback a bit faster. Good luck!

Hi all just after as much info as possible regarding studying by distance at either CQU or CDU for 2013, both seem good but as someone not experianced with Uni's I would appreciate any advice as many of us I am really keen on Nursing currently PCA in vic, with a family and all the responsibilitys along with that I would like to know what the work load might be like studying by distance part time and how much travel was required. Has anyone done the bridging courses with these Uni's and how did you find them, also can you do the placement where you currently work such as aged care. Have I asked to many ?? I wish I had a crystal ball obviously a long time to finish doing it part time but worth it dont you think.

Hi Kazmum,

I did the WIST bridging course through CQU and I found it really good. I've also found people who have done the TEP bridging course through CDU and they've found it really good as well. I'm at CDU and only have to travel to the uni 3 times over the degree regardless of whether I'm part or full time. I worked it out that it would be more than that with CQU and wouldn't be able to afford it. And CDU sometimes offer the teaching blocks here in VIC which is great. I'm only in first year but so far I've found that we're covering quite a lot of stuff and quite in depth as well.

Thanks Summerly

I appreciate the feedback I am really keen and I am looking to apply to CQU, both CDU and CQU seem to have a good reputation although with CQU my quals and experiance should gain me a place easier I know I would have to go up a bit more but its only a couple of days a semester so it shouldnt be to much trouble. Are you studying full or part time how many hours a week do you study? CQU have told me that placement would also be in VIC so thats good it wouldnt be possible to go away for a month with kids, work etc. Thanks for all your info and good luck with your studies.
