Jan 07, 2014, 04:07 pm I started the online nursing course at GCIT in August 2012 - about to start my 3rd semester. You will love it. Just make sure you have good time management and you'll be ok. The residential schools are great - you get to meet everyone in your group. My group started up a Facebook page and we give each other support and guidance when doing assignments etc. |

Feb 13, 2014, 10:22 pm Hi all, I have also just started a Diploma of Nursing through GCIT and am doing mine online, but I am very excited to go to residential school so I will be able to put some faces to names when I work out what the hell I am doing. I haven't studied like this in over 20 years, but then again mid life crisis do that to a person (make them go out of their comfort zone). Considering I like to work with criminals working with sick people is going to be hopefully a lot less stressful (no parole jumpers I hope ;-) ). 3rdGenNurse - I have sent you a friend request as it seems we maybe doing the same course. Hope to hear from you soon Happy studying ladies & gentlemen..... |

May 15, 2014, 07:33 am I've just finished my Diploma through GCIT and I found them pretty good. Some people in my group had issues but overall I've been happy. Agreed with the Time Management statement! Make sure you stay on top on everything! If you struggle, as for help... even from other students! Have fun! Nursing is a wonderful career that could take you anywhere :) |

May 17, 2014, 06:47 pm Hi, I need some help in my decision making. I am currently enrolled in a bachelor of nursing part time through distance education. I am considering changing to the diploma of nursing to start next year. The reason I am thinking to do this is because I have a job at the moment only to the end of the year and I am looking to change my career to nursing. I figured if I do the bachelor of nursing, I would probably finish in the year 2017 or 2018 part time as I only wish to study part time but if I start the diploma of nursing in January and do it over 2 years, I could finish at the end of 2016. This would get me working sooner in the field. Also I hate uni essays and there is quite a lot of them through the degree. I would also like to study through GCIT distance education so I can continue to work in a casual job. I would really like some advice. Is it worth going through GCIT for the diploma, would I be able to get work easily as an enrolled nurse if Im prepared to go anywhere for work. Could I get agency work after completing if I dont get a grad program, is there are a lot of work in enrolled nursing compared to registered nursing, am I limited only to working in aged care facilities. Some people say enrolled nursing is like an ain unless you are medication endorsed. Please I need your advice because it is a big decision and a lot of money aswell. Is the diploma easier to complete, because I am good at studying but hate essay writing. I live in Melbourne and does that go against me if I am studying through gold coast tafe? |

Aug 24, 2014, 07:23 pm Sandyko......You only get responses from other people (students, public members etc) willing to give you a response. If noone wants to, you don't get one!! |

Aug 26, 2014, 04:25 pm Hi Sandyko I have just completed the Diploma through GCIT and can definitely recommend it. Being in Melbourne is no problem, although be aware you will need to come up to the Gold Coast for 2 weeks each semester (there are 3) I can't say how easily you will find work as everywhere is different. I got an offer for a grad program one week after being registered - yes I was very lucky! Agree with what the others have said about time management - you need to make sure you don't get behind and stay focussed. Not going to lie - there are plenty of essays in the Diploma too. |
