Hi there, im a mother of 3 and 28 weeks pregnant.. i have finally decided i am going to go ahead and study midwifery/nursing next year. I am currently doing a WIST course through CQ Uni to try and help myself get into my Preferred Uni next year and will also do my STAT test later on in the year.

I plan on trying to get into either :
ACU for the 3 year Midwifery course or
QUT 4 year dual nursing/midwifery

I have seen a few people mention they are doing a DIV 2 of nursing at TAFE first.. is this a better option? how long does this course go for? and is it then easy to transfer over to the midwifery course when you have completed that?

My main goal is to be a Midwife but dont have any problems doing nursing as part of any course!

Im just worried i will not get into Uni next year and trying to work out the best option i can to do so.

Thanks for any advice or info you can give on this matter :)

Hi the div 2 is an EEN. You do the course at tafe and it runs for 18 months. I don't think it is any easier to get into. Actually I applied to go to tafe and didn't get in, because there was so many students applying, however I did get into uni, go figure lol. I believe you should try uni, there are more places available to start with, it isn't as hard to get into then you think. To get in I would go and do a cert 3 in aged care, that will bring your score right up, and easier than doing all those testing. If I remember right I think the rank for acu was 70-72 for the january intake. I know it can change at each intake. But uni isn't that hard, just a lot of assignments. Good luck with what you decide.
