Hi everyone

I am currently completing 4 units through Open Universities Australia. I have been told this is an acceptable way to gain entry into the nursing degree thorugh unisa. Just wondering if other people have been successful gaining entry into uni using OUA units?

Hi,

I'm in my final year Nursing through Uni SA and didn't do any of their OUA units to get entry. I think it probably depends on your background as to whether you need to do. I didn't have a health background but i had studied at University a few years prior in Melbourne (didn't finish my course) and had started a CIII in aged care about a month before i applied to UNI SA. Also depending on how old you are that will also be taken into account. My enter score from about 4 years prior was enough to get me into that bachelor of nursing based on their enter requirments.

I would check with the university as to what you would need because it's probably different for everyone.

Hi Mammalicous,

It appears that we will both be starting external studies in nursing at Uni SA this month. Maybe we will cross paths at the workshop held on 18 & 19 Feb at the uni? That would be funny.

At the moment I am swimming in an overload of info about enrolment and study planning. How are you going?

Shellz - yes I will be attending the workshop on the 18th & 19th and also the nursing orientation on the 21st :)

Have you enrolled in all your subjects yet? I have enrolled into -
Being a health professional, human body 1 & 2, Global & national health, population health, mental health & Foundation practicum 1 - for the first year

I also found the enrolment process a bit confusing, had to ring up the uni a couple of times for advice.
Have you received anything in the mail yet? I have only received the first 2 course outlines and a letter about obtaining my student ID but nothing else, not even an enrolment pack lol

Had a brief look at the first 2 subjects, they look a bit daunting, think we need to purchase a headset for one of the courses to chat online

Trying to sort out my textbooks this week and next (they are expensive!!!!)

I was trying to enrol for the BNurse program a few years ago. Back then you only needed to do two bridging subjects to qualify to enrol. I passed both subjects very well and submitted my application - only to be turned down. When I rang to find out why, I was told that I hadn't completed enough subjects yet. They had changed the elegibility requirements mid semester and hadn't informed anyone.

Now I am doing the EEN course and will use this to gain entry into my nursing degree.
