Hi! Everyone I will finished my Division 2 in November, but after Nursing Board changin in 1 July, I heard that if I have to do the IELTS test and achieve 7 to register to become the nurse because I didn't study year 11 or 12 in Australia, (I came from overseas since 6 years ago and I have a degree from overseas). Did anyone heard that news? Is there any exemption? Because all my classmates are came from overseas and we are so worry about that.

Hi, Have you asked your teacher / school whether this policy both applies to Division 1 and 2? I am also planning to study Division 1 or 2 next year. And I heard that this policy applies to Division 1 only. My email is mr.bhutia@yahoo.com Keep in touch.

Hi! Thank you for your reply. We did ask the teacher last week, but they said haven't heard of anything, but I saw it from the new nursing board web site, I rang them up, they said if I'm not study Year 11 or above in Australia, I need to do ILETS test, so I feel frastrated now, because score 7 seems pretty hard to get. Anyway, good luck and keep in touch.

I'm doing Div 2 (EN now) and we have been told we have to have done Year 11 or 12 in Australia or pass the IELTS test. Half of my class are worried and very concerned. I don't think it's fair to change the rules half way through the course.

Yer! We've been told the same thing this week, everyone get piss off with that. Our class around 28 people, I think only 3 people who did year 12 in Australia, the rest all came from overseas, that's why we have to do ILETS, if we can't get score 7 within 2 years, the certificate will become useless for us. But what can we do, we can't change anything even we only have 4 months will finished the course. So sad.

As far as I was "warned", ACT required us to have IELTS of 7 prior to the new ruling anyways, so I have been mentally prepared for it. This policy applied to div 1 and div 2, with no exceptions. I personally don't think there is much to worry about if you had done well in your course (which would reflect with your ability to read complex sentences and words). It can be quite unnerving, but really, there should be nothing to worry about.

hmmmm...but if you are a struggling working student/parent, 300+ dollars for an ielts test is not a welcomed idea. Having to finish a uni course should be enough evidence to pass the ielts and get a band of 7...however, things like nerves can happen and let you fail - which is not an indicator if you will be a good nurse or not, in my opinion.... =(

I'm also concern about my IELTS since my 1 yr brideging program will start on Feb 2011 in Curtin Univ(Pert). I havent reach the required score of all band score of 7.0 in all categories. This is needed to be able to be an registered nurse after I graduated. I would like also to ask if anyone there taking the same course? ...I don't have any idea about the books i will be needed and other concerns. Any reply from this is really very important.Thank you in advance to someone.
