Hi Johnw, I could have written exactly what you have. I just keep telling myself that once I get further along things will fall into place. I am going to take on board teaz213's tip though of writing things down in my own simplified words. I do think that the long drawn out wording in the text books does seem to make it harder to follow at times. Good Luck!

Hi John .
Dont worry I felt exactly the same in my first A&P lesson! Especially when we started cells I was in absolute PANICK mode! But its OKAY! it all builts on each other and gets easier.
I recommend keeping all handout and DIAGRAMS!! they really help when it comes to doing your exam. Also just try to think of stupid stuff to remember things like for example I remember the 24 vertebrae colume in skeletal by remembering meal times like 7am breakfast, 12 lunch, 5 dinner. Ocz there is 7 Cervical Vertebrae, 12 Thoracic vertabrea and 5 lumbar Vertabrea.
Trust me it gets easier! Cells and stuff is the hardest. Ive nearly finished my A&P :) Danni

I remember that feeling I was like OMG how am I ever going to get this but I did I've nearly completed my first semester. Youtube and study sessions with fellow class mates helped us to understand the systems we would meet up for coffee and each person would go through the whole process of a particular body system and this way I can teach my stregths while this helps you learn your weakness. All the best

We have just finished our A&P module - and I agree with the others. Don't stress. It's the first few lessons that are the hardest, and then it really does all fall into place. By the end of it all, A&P is/was (so far) my favourite module!

LOL...don;t panic dudes, just understand the BASIC principles of anatomy and you'll be find. Yes, we all learn about cells - mitochrondria and etc but these are just an overload. My recommendation is to remember the purposes or function of cells and how they generally operate. Armed with these simplified knowledge, you will tend to understand better when you go on prac why for example, we infuse potassium for someone low on this electrolyte. Most of anatomy is just to give you a rough idea but in actual; practice, we rely on OT and Physios to give us a leg up when we are on the ward...lol. Most importantly, have fun guys and it'll breeze through.

Hi Teaz good luck with it, the question I really remember is the one I failed. What is a group of cells called? Also someone on this board offered me advice and this is what she wrote.
make sure you know meaning of homeostasis
remember your tissues such as stratified squamous, simple squamous etc body cavities labelling and skin diagram Got me through it, hope it helps you oh yes afferent and efferent as well

I remember when I last studied A&P I used to always write on post it notes, and label my book and I used to make notes of "important" things to look out, I found revising my notes on post it notes really helpful.
