Thank god I have found this forum.

I have been an AIN for 8 years and feel the need to take a big step to become an RN. However the dream sounds so impossible. I am a male aged 28, im the main bread winner of the household. I work 5-6 days aweek and I have a wife who works part time and takes care of our 2 year old daughter. We have no money to pay for any tuition outright either.

My main concern is if I applied to do BA of Nursing (hoping for CQU...I live in Brisbane) am I able to study and still make enough money to support my family? Im also worried about clinical placements... how earth can you do "work without pay" and still put food on the table?

I just dont get how there is a shortage for nurses and yet I feel they make it hard for families who need to study and make a living. I have no idea how demanding the course is, the price, the flexibilty. If anyone could help me out in any knowledge about how this all works thanks!

Hi Travis ....

Have you thought about going part time external ? CDU you can choose that option ...May take a little longer but a lot of people still work full time and study ...
