Is it the same with starting a normal IV infusion?

I wrote:

Gather equipment (flask, fluid balance chart, IV order form, administration set, alcohol swabs, norm,al saline to flush, tape to secrue line
-Explain to pt procedure.
-Check IV order form with div 1 nurse, check pt ID, calculate IV rate & time
-Ensure bag is appear normal andf expiry date. (6 rights etc)
- Spike bag & prime IV line using aseptic technique (ensure all air bubbles are gone)
- Fluch cannula with normal saline clear tubing
- Connect IV tubing and ensure in place
- regulate flow of infusion
- Document as per chart fluid balance chart etc.

Is that right?

IV infusion are only done by RNs as most EENs are not accredited to do infusions. So if you are doing your EEN course, you might want to throw this in.

Other points to note -
1) Is patient on fluid restriction. I know this sounds silly as this contraindicates the order but doctors are human and can write up an order by mistake and I have seen it many times before.

2) Check the IV cannula site for signs of infection : redness, sore when touched, bleeding and etc. If so DO NOT infuse. Inform medical team. If you do, you might increase risk of spreading inflammation via the blood stream. Also if patient has any pain during flush, stop and inform medical team, IV may have been tissued

Good luck
