hi, i just finished my EN course in november, and so i had my A&P and Pathophysiology exams around june this year.
there is ALOT of info to take in, so its not unsual to feel overwhelmed. at the time i would have like to have been able to spend a bit more time revising each weekend just to go over what we'd done during the week. but due to the fact that i was doing full time 4 days per week, plus working weekends- i simply couldnt fit it in.
in the end i spent about 3-4 days.. all day... seriously cramming just before the exams, which isnt ideal but i managed to get HD for both exams so it worked for me. our teachers gave us a study guide with the most important points to be covered as we got closer to the exams and so we followed that and it was a great help, because although you cover loads of info, of course not everything can be included in the exam.
there are some work books that you can buy that help you with A&P revision, i think from memory that Marieb have one, or the back of each chapter in the A&P text you are using probably also has exercises for revision which might help. or else just start writing out study notes as you go, and spend a few hours at the end of each week going over what you did that week.
my other little secret with A&P this year was the internet...it is an AMAZING resource for A&P if you find you arent understanding some things. for example, i was having trouble understanding the 'nephron' which is in the kidneys..and when i did a google search and looked at 'videos', there was loads of resources on there, many of which were on you tube. i found some really fantastic animations which showed me exactly how the nephrons function in moving colour!! it was brilliant! im a very visual person so once i could see the moving pictures on my laptop it made total sense...plus i was able to just play it over and over until i understood it.
A&P can definitely be daunting and overwhelming- theres sooooooo much info and it can feel like its getting on top of you, so instead if YOU can stay on top of IT then it will help heaps in the long run. make sure you revise a little bit each week so that you understand what youve covered, and then you wont end up having to cram at the last minute like i did. and even though i still got a good mark, i seriously wouldnt recommend it because i nearly had a nervous breakdown bcos of it at the time! : )
good luck! hope that helps
