e.g. if you go through the tafe (1.5 years) + uni pathway (1.5-2years) or straight to uni pathway (3 years) ...would you go through exactly the same content?

By going through the tafe pathway, would you learn less of the science subjects?

I assume at tafe it is more practical in the sort of subjects you are doing are likely to be doing as a nurse whereas the straight to uni pathway may spoonfeed you lots of theoretical knowledge of biology/chemistry which may not necessarily help with how you practice as a nurse but may help increase your understanding of the theory behind how things are working etc.

does tafe emphasize certain things more than uni?

Does anyone here have any ideas?

Hi again,

I'm a 3rd yr RN student at uni and know people who are ENs now finishing their RNs. It sounds like Tafe is more practical, and that they do fewer if any essays on nursing theory and so on. Uni doesn't really spoonfeed you, and whether you do it as a 3yr course or a 2yr add-on to your ENs, you get lots of science - you just skip the first year intro subjects which are often generalised communication-focused type subjects but which teach you to write essays and so on as well. When you go for the 2yr add-on you are expected to hit the ground running and be able to do all that already.

Adding on to your previous question about working, if you have the EN qualification you can indeed work as an EN while you're studying the RN course  :)

cheers!
