So I applied for Diploma of Nursing, full time, on Campus at Pt Adel and Gilles Plains. Didnt get first round offers despite taking TABS test, previous STAT test in 2009 AND a uni degree (finished architecture but it bored me) so I found my calling and fell in love with the idea of becoming a nurse. My sister is an Occupational Therapist at Calvary, its always interested me but never felt confident enough until now.Begin with Enrolled to start off and possibly see how it goes, maybe try going to uni and getting Registered. Since the chance of gaining a spot in tafe fell through, is there any places that offer the diploma of nursing privately? I dont mind having to pay. I know its usually 7 or 8K. either upfront or installments. please help!

Thanks #fingerscrossed

Davia, I know you have indicated doing EN as a test to see how it goes before committing further. But I would certainly encourage you to go straight for RN qualifications especially since you have an existing Uni degree which means you can do a graduate entry course of 2 years instead of 3 years. If you do an EN and then onwards to RN, you would have spent an extra 18 months plus more finances to chase this dream. Nursing is a unique career and if you would like to have a taste of it...lol...try getting some work as an AIN or PCA and it will give you a perspective before you jump in.
