Hi there, It is much easier because it prepares you for the diploma of nursing and you learn what is needed for the next step of your career, I'm thinking of canceling the numeracy and literacy test which is in two weeks, and doing the Cert IV Preparation Nursing Course. I just wish they wipe out the course of EN, I think its a whole lot of muck around cause you learn most of it in Cert 3 and Cert 4 in aged care any way if you do those courses you can go straight to Uni and do the degree in nursing, well its much quicker if your confident enough.

Hello there,

Never heard about Cert IV in preparation of nursing course but I advice you to apply to Uni for Bachelor of Nursing after and don't worry about the Diploma of Nursing.

90142 - You sure can.  I applied for Bachelor of Nursing with only an aged care cert III after working as a PCA for 3yrs. You will have a great background.  You may also get recognition for prior learning for your anatomy and physiology depending on what Uni you get into.

Depends on what state you are in on your applications if they are direct application or you apply through something like VTAC in victoria. Where you pay $110 to apply for at least 2-5 or more Uni's.  You even have options for distance learning these days.

Good Luck with your Cert IV

HI 90142,

You have to apply thru VTAC as a mature-age student cost you $100 plus but worth it and make sure you put all your experiences as many universities also consider experience aside from your STAT score.

@sons79,

I had a cert 3 in aged care certificate and I don't know that I can get Recognition for prior learning for Anatomy & Physio?It's Human Bioscience A & B and I'm with La trobe Uni. I'll started reading for A&P as someone said it's very hard unit. Distance learning is out for me as I like face to face setting.

Hi everyone,

I am about to enrol into the "Preparation for Nursing" course which is being conducted as a 15 week online course. It covers essay writing, medical terminology, maths and basic anatomy etc. It is being run through a QLD Tafe for QLD residents I believe . Successful completion of this course enables automatic entry into the Diploma of Nursing which is great as you dont have to go through the QTAC process and you have some basic knowledge to take into the Diploma. I have worked in a hospital before in an administration capacity and was able to pick up some medical terminology and basic workings of a ward. I wish all who are about to commence studies the best of luck.

Hi

Certification IV prepares you for Diploma of Nursing.The Duration of this certification is 6 months to 2 years.It is very easy certification.It includes essay writing, medical terminology, maths . This course is especially designed for those who are moving into supervisory positions and require the skills to become an effective team leader but this training also complements those who have developed existing supervisory skills on the job and want formal recognition of these achievements.
