Good luck jules and congrats on finishing your EEN course. If you get in to CDU external will you be able to do placements in Melbourne or will you have to travel interstate? Also, will you have to attend residential school interstate?

thanks Jaydee, glad its over..but also missing all our school buddies too- its a double edged sword, you cant wait to get out and then you kind of miss everyone too.

my understanding is that CDU try to get you placements in your home state. i have a friend studying thru CDU and she has just done her first placement and was able to do it in melbourne. i have also seen other CDU students in a melbourne hospital while i was doing my final div 2 clinicals. and i guess im taking the standpoint that i'll cross that bridge when i get to it if i find that i cant get a placement in melb. the residential schools are held in melbourne as well as in alice springs, but on the advice of my friend id probably choose to go to alice to do the residential school. she said the woman who runs it up there is fantastic, and worth the hassle of the trip there. plus apparently the melb school can be full or you might not get a spot etc, and for me i think it would be right on the other side of town. i guess i'll have to weigh it all up if/when it happens- but ive had great feedback from my friend (who has 2 littlies at home) than going to alice was the best choice for her. im starting a new job as part of a grad program in Feb, so im going to have to see how i can fit it all in and make it work......we'll see, after the year i had this year i feel like i could probably deal with anything! : )

are you working Jaydee? if so are you enjoying it and whats your experience been like?

Lulu... only 11 days to go! : )

You will have to come to Darwin to do the "Oscars" component of the course though. Well either there or possibly Alice.

i actually had a call from SATAC on friday which sent me into a panic bcos they needed something from the place i did my EN course that actually states that it was completed!! my academic transcript wasnt enough, and we wont be sent our cert of completion till Feb...i went into major panic mode, trying to get anything from a uni during the first week of January is next to impossible!! but the crisis was averted and it got sorted out somehow..

Well done everyone. I'm in Vic too.

fantastic news all round then! the website has clearly been slammed tonight, i cant get back on to actually accept my offer so i'll do it tomorrow i think. my sister also applied and got in too, so were all smiles now : )

so who is going to do full time and who is going to do part time? were still undecided at this stage... need to do some thinking about that. would love to just go hard and finish in 2 yrs f/t but im starting a new job as an EN in feb and i dont wanna give myself a total nervous breakdown by doing too much.

I got offered a place as well! Yayyyy!

Anyone else from WA??

I think I'm going to have to do part-time. I'm working full-time at the moment and will continue to, and there's no way I'll be able to do 4 units. It's a bummer, but I have to be realistic. I'll do part-time the first semester and if I found it easy, maybe take on one or two more units the following semester.
I intend on doing the summer school too, so hopefully that will shave some time off of the degree.

Yayyyy guys!

Hi
I completed the EN diploma in 2010 and have been successful in getting into CDU as an external student. I am going to try and do it full time if I can as I am currently employed at a local hospital as a EEN.

I was lucky enough to get a scholarship which will help with the budget while I am studying.

I am scared though, just hope I have the brains to get through.

It is great that we can talk with other students that are completing the same course......

Oscars are practical assessments which you have to complete at the CTB or Clinical Teaching Block which is a week at uni that you must undertake and pass in order to complete your practical's. Do not stress, you get plenty of lead up to them and if you fail the first time, they have a re-sit on the Friday afternoon.

They are held in Alice Springs or Darwin and from time to time, they hold them for 2nd and 3rd years on other major capital cities. For instance, i live in Sydney, during semester 1, they are holding a 3rd year CTB in Sydney, but not any 2nd year ones. So those of us 2nd year students have to go to Alice or Darwin for a week and attend the CTB. They can be quite fun and the lecturers are very helpful.

Hi Angela M
What sort of assessments are you assessed on during the oscars. We also did the oscars during our EEN course but I am sure that the CDU ones will be more in depth than the TAFE ones?

Also, when you are attending the CTB is there accommodation available if you are from interstate. I have been to Darwin in the past and I know how far Casuarina is from the city, can you get public transport from the airport to the uni?

Any one here who is interested in studying and practicing nursing in the united kingdom on scholarship for tuition fee(kings college london school of nursing scholarship for international students) could get in touch on line here or call the local coordinator for Nigeria.
The scholarship is for the tuition fee which means that the school fees would be paid by the institution for funds generated from international health organizations..Also admission letters and acceptance letterers would be sent to the local embassy of residence..
