Hi guys I need some advice.

I'm currently studying enrolled nursing part time 2 days a week.

I do not have certificate III in aged care and ive only just started my EEN course and havnt done any placement yet.

I've never worked in healthcare and I want to get my foot in the door somewhere? I'm considering doing a cert III in Pathology over the Summer as a weekend course its only about 7 weeks.

I would like to work as a phlebtomist whilst studying my nursing? Does anyone else do this? I need any opinions? advice?

Thanks

Danni

That is exactly what I'm doing :D

I only started a few weeks ago but I really enjoy it. I don't work in a hospital but rather a collection center. It's a great job.

I didn't have to do any courses, I got/am getting trained on the job.

I have been a phlebotomist for the past 6 years, love it. I studies as an EN before that but didnt like nursing back then, but now after being in path, I want to go back into nursing... so have been offered a place in the external bachelor of nursing for next year.
Pathology is a great job, it's not boring...every patient you get is different, and each can come with their own challenge.
I highly reccomend pathology, and it is a great skill to have.

hi minigmgoit and mrsmedic85 - i was encouraged by your posts regarding the pathology jobs. i am also an EEN student and looking for a part-time pathology job. i hope you don't mind if i ask for some tips regarding application (especially for someone like me who have no pathology experience -- but i'm keen on learning!). do i just write an expression of interest letter to the collection centers? your replies would be very helpful because i am also sort of in a difficult financial situation right now - thanks in advance!
