Promote independence with their personal space> Underline the main words. Independence and Personal Space and Promote.. So you want to encourage the person to do things for himself or by himself. By doing this it will improve his self worth . How to do this? Physical things. Provide opportunities. e g. instructions, privacy, materials . Also help him to think for himself again. Gentle questions and reminders.
Make sure there are things around him that you know he can reach for . Things that you know he likes. Radio, tv, books, papers, bible, knitting, puzzles, phone, call bell, urinal - the list goes on.
Try to visualize your personal space. What is in it? His is probably similar. Does this help at all?
