Hi,

I have recently re-joined the workforce as an Aged Carer Comm Support Worker, too. I have been doing the job now for almost 18 months and I love it! No bosses hanging over your shoulder, get your roster, know your clients needs and choof off in your car. Its great.

As for the interview, just be yourself. Honestly, that's all I can say. Project confidence and answer the questions they put to you as openly and honestly as you can and above all, be enthusiasic about what you are about to embark on. The interviewees will see this in you and you will be snapped up.

The kinds of questions I was asked at my interview (I already had my Cert 111 in Aged Care - where as almost everyone else employed didn't - they learned on the job) They asked me, where do you want to be in five years time? (At the time I had no idea - I was about to start a whole new career in Aged Care and couldn't think that far down the track. 18 months later I'm about to study to become an EN..) They will just ask common sense questions, too. For example. You turn up at a clients house - find her on the floor and in pain. How would you handle this? Mr Smith needs Vitamised food for every meal but his blender has broken? What do you do in this situation? Is it okay to call your co-ordinator if you need guidance in a situation you're not sure about even though she may be very busy. (The answer to that one is yes! Always double check in with them and then write your findings in your progress notes. Always cover your backside and write everything out of the norm down in the notes.)

I don't know about where you live - but you would have to do really, REALLY badly to not get through as our kinds of carers are always highly sought after. There's just enough of us to go around. Good luck! Let us know how you go.

If you are serious about pursuing a career in hotel or restaurant management, it might be helpful to seek advice from a professional chef who has experience in culinary championship. They can offer valuable insights and guidance on how to succeed in this field. I am confident that they would be able to provide you with the best advice and support to help you reach your goals.
