Hi lovelys!

Okay, so just a quick quiery.. We've had a number of deceased lately which leads me to ask how you guys handle them? Some nurses I work with give them a quick wash, some powder and send them off. I on the other hand have this, I don't know whether to call it an obsession or not but anyway, this thing that just doesn't sit with my right until it's done!
For instance we lost a woman recently who I happened to be on all day and then back the next day. I was finishing off my afternoon shift so it was most likely around 2200 hours. I went into her room turned on her radio to some classical music, stripped off the horrible "hospital" like blanket and put on a floral "home" like one. I sat with her for a while and just spoke to her.
At 6am I came back and the night nurses let us know she had passed. They had put a clean night dress on and gave her a wash turned all the lights off and closed the door.

Now to me this doesn't sit right!! so here's my obsession, I feel 100% better when that person leaves the facility looking nice. I put on a nice outfit if the family haven't already picked one out, put on their make up and try and make them apear more natural than "dead". I did this with the lady who had passed and as soon as I did I literally felt this weight off my shoulders.

The family came in not long after and were so greatful and apreciative. So tell me! what do you guys do? Not just this but do you have your own little quirks that you must or must not do? :]

Also, I'll throw this in too if you feel like a little more light reading. Do you ever think spirits hang around the facility? I've had quite a few encounters myself but I'm not a sceptic at all. Tell me your thoughts! ever had anything strange happen?

I actually had my first deceased on a short morning shift in nursing home last week. Family had been there for most of the night, when our resident passed away at 0700 hours. My co worker said to me do you want to prepare M........ I said yes.. We washed her.Shampooed her hair. Moisturised her body, Daughter had brought a dress that she wanted her Mum to wear. It was calm we played music on her cd player, My co worker found a flower from the garden and placed in her hand.. I placed a kiss om M..... and said goodbye...
