I am new to this site but want support and forums to discuss what is a worsening climate in the residential setting.
I left one QLD job in Priv Sector to work Agency for a year. That keeps you out of the politics of a place for a while; I
needed the breather.

I am now a year into my next Priv Sector Aged Care job and as time goes on, I am shaking my head in exasberation
at the same old problems that only get worse eg roster nightmares/not enough staff, lack of continuity of care because
of the rostering and use of Agency, and then the resulting things that occur from communication breakdown.
A syringe driver ran out 3 hours previous to anyone realising. IT ISN"T GOOD ENOUGH.
Any RNs out there getting a guts full of the cost cutting in your facility?
Are you have meetings and support, or having to call for an RN meeting out of desperation like I did?
I want better for the residents.
What other forums are online to talk out things?? I appreciate ANY replies. Irene

All the Regis facilities are very good. The staff and Management of Shenely Manor are fantastic except for one or two rotten PCA's but that is expected anywhere. Basscare is a great Aged Care Facility with great nurses and the management is fantastic.. I think it is a rewarding job and the most important people are the residents who depend on us PCA's. Kindness and Compassion are the two most important factors in Aged Care.
