Hi Everyone,

I have added things to this forum before and once again I need some direction. Currently I am half way through my Certificate 3 in Aged Care and I was lucky to snag some casual hours at a Aged care facility not far from my home. I dont get many rostered shifts but I am called in if someone rings in sick. As I am not there consistently I am told I am doing well but I can be a little slow, I know it comes down to time management with residents but as I am a new person I am still getting to know the residents needs and wants and dont really want to stuff up. Today I was offered an interview for a Traineeship for an Aged care facility which is one hour from my home and yes its structured and I will have rostered shifts plus extra if I want them but the hourly rate is not as good as a casual. I was also offered a casual position with Australian Home Care which is very inviting. So you can see I am in a bit of a dilema of what would be my best option. Everyone wants to work close to home but can I pass up this traineeship knowing I have a mortgage but on the other hand I am half way through my Certificate. Is there anyone who can give me some advice I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks heaps.
If there is anyone who wants a study buddy please contact me.

Carers are some of those who are under the greatest stress, as they are constantly dealing sick and abnormal people. So they tend to suffer from severe depression, schizophrenia or other mental health problems. Rightfully enough, their needs ought to be taken care of. Refer to http://www.caringuk.com for more on respite care.

Hi There

I too am studing Cert III & Cert III Community Care and just accepted Traineeship in a Facility. I think I may have made a mistake in taking up the Traineeship as I have do Xtra hrs to complete Cert III and as i have a morgage also I will have to take on part time work as traineeship pay is crap. Seriously decide what is best for YOU. Your clients will benefit when you are happy.

Hope this helps.
