Hi Budda :)

Personally we were required to ensure we had the full complement of immunisations up to date, including:

- Diphtheria/Pertussis/Polio/Tetanus

- Chickenpox

- Hep A and B

- Flu - seasonal plus swine flu

- Measles/Mumps/Rubella

I would think that hepatitis A and B would be the most important injections to get in an aged care placement because of the high potential for fecal contact. Also the flu injection because of hte havoc it could wreak among the residents if you brought the flu in.

I have also considered getting a TB vaccination (BCG vaccine), because many residents had their childhoods in a time before streptomycin was around. Also because more than one resident has just coughed, open-mouthed, directly into my face when I was asking them a quesiton. Ergh! I'll get that done one of these days :)

Best of luck :)
