Hi, I also tried to do my Cert. 3 through Cengage. As I wasn't disciplined enough to make progress in their course, because I was studying something else at Uni at the same time, I asked them if I could terminate it halfway through. They refused to let me go, until I had completely paid for the course, even though I wasn't using their service and didn't want it any more. Annoyed, I asked the guy on the phone what would happen if I cancelled their automatic Mastercard debits. He replied they would get a debt collector to chase me up to recover their fees. By that time I was literally spitting chips, and having very uncharitable thoughts about them. I felt trapped into uselessly paying out another couple of hundred dollars over the next year. Finally, after a few weeks I decided to try again. This time, the helpful lady suggested I could transfer to a shorter, cheaper course, like Business Activity Statement preparation, and as I had already paid out the cost of the new course, I was able to stop further payments.

Well, I put it down to experience, and recently completed a Cert 3 through Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, and it was excellent.
