Hi there,

I have just completed my Cert iii in Aged Care and I have been looking for job for this 2 weeks but seems hard to get it. I sent my resume all nursing homes colse to my place.

I was thinking to contact the nursing agency but webpage said paid working experience is essential. anyone got a job through a agency without experience?? or experience is a must?

and another option is: working as a comunnity carer. but it seems like more house sitter,,domestic cleaning and shopping assistance etc I prefer more nurse kind of job. if I work as a home carer, is that easy to come back to nursing home? is that considered as a totally different experience??

sorry for messy questions, I have totally no idea what to do. I cant just wait for next a couple of months till some vacant position will come up.any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

Hi tink.. Be patient.. As you have done placed your resume in all your nursing homes in your area. Have you offered in your cover letter to do volunteer work to gain experience.. I would not knock back community work if it was made available to you. It is all experience..When doing my cert 3 we visited community organisations like Spiritus based in the south east of Qld. They actually prefer to have new staff that have just graduated...

Hi gizjiz, Thank you for your reply. I understand it is all experience,,,I'll try to offer volunteer work from next time.

I rang Spiritus a few weeks ago actually, and they said everyone can work as long as you have cert iii in Aged Care....seems easy to get a job...hmm

I hope I get a job in nursing home but have to think working for communy work too...

anyway thank you very much for your reply.
