Be nice to me, I may be your nurse one day. Remember - needles and catheters come in sizes that I get to choose!

Tell me fellow nurses...What are your absolute pet hates at work?? Don't hold back now...Vent away!!

I'll start..

  • When people don't put things back where they live - patient transfer equipment pushed into patient bathrooms ring a bell?
  • when people use the last item and don't restock. OR when people find stock empty and walk around the ward until they find what they need instead of just restocking the item (a much quicker option usually!)
  • And finally... Filling in the last space of the drug register and not carrying over the medication tally onto the next page so that you have to count them and fill it in yourself.

GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Happy Venting!!

I can relate with what you say  tho I am a American ( Alaskan) nurse newly landed here.I hate lazy people generally..unless some one is terribly harried in some way  at the moment it is common courtesy to be proper with those items like you mentioned.I am used to RUNNIng 12.5 HOURS on a TELE/MED/SURG/PEDS ward in a smallish hospital. We rarely got our breaks... but still lazy and sloppiness has no place.( or hiding /hoarding prefered equipment lol)

1. When the hospital makes new rules about not being able to work so many days in a row and it kills your vacation plans.

2. When the patient diagnoses themselves with Internet information before coming in.

3. When you never have enough time to eat, pee, sleep, etc...

4. When a patient throws up on you.

5. When your best friend gets assigned to another unit.

Hate the patient with annoying attitude and attendents aiming to seek attention
