Can I work in the uk as a nurse with an Australian diploma?

Hi everyone, I'm a little confused at the moment with all that I am reading on the net about weather I can work as an een in the uk (advanced enrolled nurse).
I plan on traveling to the uk early next year to work and travel, I am able to get an ancestry visa and will be fully qualified in Australia. Is this qualification enough? I have been reading about the new legislation that has been passed in the uk requiring nurses to have a degree by 2012.. Will this stop me from being able to work? Is there a bridging course I must obtain?
I know that I'm asking a few different questions here but all I really want to know is am I going to be able to easily obtain a job?? Please help!!

id contact the UK nurses council to get absolute answers- but i think you'll find it difficult as ENs no longer exist in the UK.

there are only RNs in the Uk now. My mum is a UK trained EN (she trained about 37 yrs ago), but we live in aust now. however a number of years ago they did away with ENs, i think what they did was offer ENs there the opportunity to go back and do their RN training. from what ive heard from my aunt who is an RN in the UK, the ENs who had a job were still able to work for their employers, but once they left that employer would not be able to be re-employed elsewhere.

again id get the actual facts from the nursing council if i were you, but im guessing the best you could hope for would be to maybe get work in a carer/PCA type role.
