Hey Endless, you are a tripper, the point you are trying to get across is unclear, maybe you should re read what you have written before you publish your posts.

hi,

just thought id post some info for anyone who might be wanting it on the Vetassess as my sister and i both sat it today.

basically the practice exam you can get from the Vetassess website is a fairly good indicator of the style of the exam. however it was of course much longer and the literacy section was in three parts.

1. firstly a multiple choice literacy section of 40 questions, this section basically assesses english skills including spelling/vocabulary/comprehension/sentence structure.

2. second section numeracy, 40 multiple choice questions. varying questions, fractions, adding, multiplying, subtraction, division, graphs. some questions fairly simple. some more difficult.

3. third section was more literacy. you had to read an artice and then write a letter to someone detailing the most relevant info, and convince the recipient of a particular view, once again it was to assess comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and ability to structure sentences that make sense and contain the relevant info. this section also contained a second article with three questions which had to be answered. lastly we had to wwrite a page detailing why we felt we we were 'right' for nursing.

4. laslty we had to answer a 5 minute questionaire on our 'opinions of the nursing profession'.

my sister and i have very strong english skills- so we found the literacy stuff fairly easy, but there was alot of writing and we finished right before the time was up. neither of us is great in the maths department, but were both confident that we have probably passed the numeracy section...but have very likely got a few incorrect. i took a complete guess on the final 4-5 questions as i ran out of time and figured any answer had a 1 in 4 chance of being right!!

my advice to anyone doing the Vetassess is watch your time, make sure you dont waste time on questions that 'stump' you- your better of moving on and coming back later. we both feel pretty happy with it now that its done. we didnt study, and we were a tiny bit worried that maybe we should have studied for the maths stuff...but infact we probalby have done ok in the maths anyway which was a pleasant surprise. in the literacy section, just make sure you read over the info carefully as when your under pressure its easy to mis-read and make silly mistakes.

hope this info helps - i kept trying to find info on the Vetassess before we did it but could only find general info so i thought id provide some for everyone else!

Cheers

I'm booked in to do it at the end of the month also! Fingers crossed!
It shouldn't be to difficult with a lil'math revision beforehand...

Hi danijela,

My lit questions where:

Write a friendly letter to persaude a 17 year old to quit smoking or write a letter for something else, can't remember what - might have been a complaint about something.
Read a short text on depression and answer questions about the text. Things like; what is trying to be conveyed, which is the noun out of a,b,c or d, etc etc.
You will be bed bound for a while, write about what qualities you would like your primary carer to have.

Hope that helps and good luck with it!

Ian.

Hi there,

I sat my vet assess exam from 3 weeks ago.

My marks which I got are

literature - 26/40

Math - 30/40 And Satisfactory in the other parts. I try to apply at VIC UN and also at Holmsglen Moorabbin But I knew my score isn't high enough to help me. I need to know How do they choose people for Cert. IV in nursing. There are heaps and heaps of people waiting for this course. I Thought They will choose the high score. So I will give up. I am really nervous because after I passed the exam I can't find place in this course.

cheers,

Got my results today...

38 - literacy

37 - numeracy

satisfactory for the essay bit.

Desperately hoping I did well enough to get an offer as there were so many people sitting the exam!
