Hi Kysanne, I am Sandpit also Group J partime 1 also. My name is Alessandra, however i prefer to be called Sandra, I dont know how to change it, i might email Mary Louise. HOpe you are enjoying the course, i am loving it. It seems to be getting a touch lighter on subjects which is good so i can dedicate more time to studying.

Frankie, all the best mate, i see you are heading towards the end of your course. Good luck with it all, its all been worth it... Regards xxx

Hi I started study part-time at GCIT, online last August, but had to redo the A&P. I have to say in the March intake the A&P is alot the last one. I live in outback western australia and be happy to hear from anyone wa who is doing the course. it can be hard but enjoyable

Hi Janice

I am from WA, down in Perth live near Freo. Great to hear there is someone else from WA so excited. I started in March online part time and am loving it, its a great course but full on. Have you had your first residential yet? I am finding that working fulltime, raising a 16 year old who is in year 12 is a challenge but getting there slowly. Great to hear from a fellow Sandgroper...

Hi All,

my name is Tanya I have just enrolled to do online full time August intake. I am 29 no children but work full time. How is the course? Anyone else doing it full time online? How are the residential schools and vocational placement? I am a bit worried about the vocational placement as they don't have set dates.

Hi Chrissydoll,

I thought it was you Sandra, we are in the same group. Blackbird is Paul from our group and I'm Kylie or Ky in the lectures.

I can't believe we are nearly 2 months in now!

I can't wait to get into Res School and meet everyone, and be hands on with all that we have learnt.

To all whom have enrolled for the August intake, you won't regret it. It is hard to take in at the start but it is amazing how much information you retain, so don't panic.

Hi Ky

How are you doing? How neat we are in the same group. You know the thought was going thru my mind that it was you but i was to shy to ask in the room, (i know that's silly). Two months has flown hasn't it, i am loving it heaps but catching up on the last worksheet. I cant wait either for residential in september, i am all booked and trip paid for, now just need to try and get time off for my vocationals, my employer is not being flexible with that, i cant leave work, coz i am a single mum so i need to be work. Are you enjoying the course? You know it will fly before we know it and then we will be doing something we love. I cant wait for it, its always been a dream of mine. Paul is in Melbourne and i remember him as blackbird. I am currently in Perth but next march I will be moving home which is Geelong (about 45 minutes away from Melbourne). I am looking forward to that also. It will be fun in September cant wait to meet you and the others too!

For those of you starting in August, you will love it. You will make some awesome new friends and you will be amazed at just how wonderful our body is. And Ky is right, you will retain info that you never thought you could know....

Hi Sandra,

I can't wait to meet everyone in September. I did quiz 3 today, wasn't as hard as the 2nd but lots of long explanations in this one I thought!

I am loving the course!! I draw a blank sometimes in the exams, but have noticed when people are talking about their illness or I hear medical stuff I shock myself by actually knowing and understanding what they are talking about.

I wish we knew what was happening for Vocational placements as I also work and have three sons that are very active in sports so I need time to organise.

Talk soon. xo

Hi Kyles and Sandra,

Yes it is Paul from Group J :-)  I always got worried before the assessments, but ended up doing pretty well in all three.  Kyles, it can be fun listening in on medical conversations knowing more about what they talk about - but what is even more fun is when I talk the talk back to them (how can a dumb security guard know stuff like that??????).

Wow,It is so nice to see so many people studying via distance learning.  I too am like many of you, mature aged student (40) , 2 kids both now at school and nursing is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do,...Now I feel it is my time, and am excited about getting started.  I am looking at GCIT, starting in August, p-time due to family commitments.  I have all the forms here now ready to fill in.  I also work part-time so this works perfectly for me...It's nice to know you can come somewhere and ask any questions if you're unsure....And like many of you I am feeling abit nervous about the whole study thing, but I am sure it is just being super organised!!

Hi Jules

I am also mature age (45) and starting at GCIT in August p/time.  My kids are older teens so I felt the time was right to do something about my passion - nursing!!  I too am nervous about the study, but as you say, I think it's just being strict with yourself and making sure you are organised and put time aside to study!

There are so many great people on this site so I'm sure if any of us have any questions, there will be someone there to help!  I work part time also as a teacher aide 4 days a week (22hrs)  so the part time option works better for me.

Look forward to seeing you at Residential College in January!!
